Group events & holidays
Group events apply to multiple members simultaneously. They are admin-only and typically used for public holidays, company closures, and other events that affect entire teams or regions.
Creating a group event
Section titled “Creating a group event”- Go to Events → Group events (admin navigation).
- Click Create group event.
- Select a group-scoped event type (e.g., Public holiday from the Holidays category).
- Set the date range and target members — by team, geography, or individual selection.
- Save.
The event applies to all targeted members on the selected dates. Their capacity reflects the event’s modifier (typically 0.0 for holidays).
Holidays category
Section titled “Holidays category”The Holidays category is the canonical use case for group events. It ships with modifier 0.0 and group scope in the Default dataset.
To set up public holidays for your workspace:
- Confirm the Holidays category and Public holiday type exist (included in the Default dataset).
- Create a group event for each holiday, targeting the relevant members or teams.
- For recurring annual holidays, create a recurring group event series.
Targeting
Section titled “Targeting”Group events support targeting by:
- Team — all members of selected teams
- Individual members — specific people across teams
- Geography / cohort — when configured in your workspace
Untargeted members are unaffected — their capacity remains unchanged.
Group events vs. member events
Section titled “Group events vs. member events”| Group event | Member event | |
|---|---|---|
| Created by | Admin | Any member |
| Applies to | Multiple members | One member |
| Typical use | Holidays, closures | Vacation, training, on-call |
A member can still log a personal event on a day with a group holiday. The minimum modifier rule applies — a holiday at 0.0 overrides a member event at 1.0. See Modifiers & precedence.
